Group quizzes that are able to be assigned in real time?

Jump to solution

Is it possible to set up a quiz / assignment that:

1. Can be worked on by a group of students all at one computer (only one log-in) and

2. Can have the participants manually entered at the time of the activity instead of being a part of a pre-set group.

Ex. In an active learning space, the instructor mixes up the seating and asks the student to work jointly on an activity - 3 students to each computer - only one is logged in but they all can get credit for the assignment by entering their information at the time.

Clearly this can work with extra steps of the instructor adding the credit for the other team members later or other options but I am wondering if there is a way to make this work directly.

Thanks in advance for the ideas!

rachel-gatewood@uiowa.edu, unfortunately no, there is no way to directly do a group quiz in Canvas. There is a feature idea for this - - that was voted on and archived due to not enough support. I think the way you indicated - with the Instructor entering the grades for the other students afterwards/manually - is the best workaround for right now.
