When an instructor assigned a file upload type of assignment with the peer review feature turned on, Microsoft word documents do not seem to be previewing for the students who are completing the peer review. It forces them to click on it and download instead of previewing the window like it does for instructors in the Speedgrader.
If the instructure uses a website URL and has students submit the sharing link for a Google doc, it previews in the peer review screen for the peer reviewer.
Is this consistent with your experience when using peer review? I wish the Word document would automatically preview for students. It makes it quite difficult for them to do a real peer review in my opinion.
From this guide it looks like students should be able to add comments/annotations to the document they are reviewing as long as the document is an appropriate type - How do I submit a peer review to an assignment?
If this isn't what you're seeing then you should submit a ticket to Canvas Support (Help --> Report a Problem)
Hi @skreitzer ...

For now, I'm going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered", but that won't prevent you or others from posting additional replies below. Looking forward to hearing from you, Stacy.
No this has not been answered yet. When students were peer reviewing Micorsoft Word documents, the documents weren't previewing for the students completing the peer review. They had to download the document instead.
Since it looks like the functionality should exist, I would contact Canvas support so they can look into the issue.
