What is the step by step procedure to get classes ready and able to sync to PowerSchool?

Hello @RonTaylor !
As a member of our Support team I've spent quite a bit of time working with Canvas & PowerSchool and I have a few suggestions that will help with a smooth transition now that school is starting up again!
The first step I highly recommend is to visit the PowerSchool Gradebook for each class or section you are teaching (this is not in Canvas, but in PowerSchool instead). This single step will allow grades to be sent from Canvas into PowerSchool gradebook.
The second thing I suggest doing is setting up your assignment groups in Canvas with the appropriate Assignment Group Weights (if you are using Group Weights). Then place your assignments/discussions/quizzes in the proper assignment groups in Canvas and "Enable" the ones that you want to see grades for in PowerSchool. If you are not sure how to "Enable" your assignments/discussions/quizzes see this guide:
Lastly, you should be set to start sending grades from Canvas to PowerSchool and if you are not quite sure how to run a sync we have a lot of help that can talk over that.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
Hello @RonTaylor ...
Full disclosure, I know absolutely nothing about PowerSchool or how it integrates with Canvas. That being said, I do know that you can find documentation here in the Canvas Community about it. In doing a quick search, I found the following for you that might help:
PowerSchool and Canvas - Instructure Community
There are several Guides on this page, so hopefully you'll be able to find something that will help to answer your question(s). Good luck!
HI @RonTaylor,
Since you labeled this as "Instructor", I would encourage you to reach out to your institution's Canvas team.
While there are standards for each SIS like PowerSchool, how they work with Canvas can typically be customized.
If your Canvas team is not able to help, they will probably connect with your institution's Canvas CSM or Canvas Support.
