Hey Canvas Community!

We're diving deep into the world of Peer Review within Canvas and we need your help! We know many of you already use this awesome feature to foster collaboration and feedback in your courses. But to make it even better, we need your input!

What is Peer Review?

Just in case you're new to this, the Peer Review tool in Canvas allows students to review each other's work, providing valuable feedback and learning from their classmates. It's a fantastic way to encourage engagement and create a more interactive learning environment.

Share Your Thoughts!

We've created a short survey (it takes about 5 minutes) to get a better understanding of how you currently use Peer Review, what you love about it, and what could be improved. Your honest feedback will help us establish a baseline and measure the impact of future enhancements.

Click here to take the survey: https://t.maze.co/331800075

Thank you for your time and valuable insights! We appreciate your contribution to making Canvas even better.

Thank you @SamGarza1 for the survey. How long will it be available? I'm deciding whether to include this in my usual Canvas emails for faculty or send a standalone message.

Hi @ProfessorBeyrer, we'll have this survey open for a couple of weeks at least.

It would have been nice to have had the opportunity to add comments to cover the features you did not even mention, but that our instructors believe are essential for them!

Thank you @SamGarza1 . I have sent out your request for the feedback form to all of our teachers who have used Canvas Peer Review in the past year. However, it is to be noted that this group is somewhat limited. The Peer Review feature of FeedbackFruits is used much more by our teachers.

Thank you for that feedback @susanna_bjorver - feel free to send any additional comments to Sam directly.  I think that is helpful feedback and you have specific comments - we would love to hear them.

Thank you 🙏

just heads up, my mobile device was not able to open this survey due to screen size. The survey link when click, opens a page and the page reads an error message. So you will need a big screen or a desktop/laptop/tablet screen to take this survey

One question that was not asked but we receive frequent requests for is the ability for one group to peer review another group.

Just tossing this in, here: there's currently no way to see the timestamp for when a student completed a peer review. Because submission sidebar comments are not required when a rubric is attached to the assignment, students can submit a peer review with no visible timestamp in the instructor interface.

This is especially difficult with the Assignment Enhancements active, since the Add Comment button is at the top of the screen, functionally hidden from student view when reading a submission and/or completing a rubric.

So, we have a UI design choice that only students see that's negatively impacting workflows for instructors when trying to hold students accountable to their obligations to the learning community.

There's got to be a timestamp in the database for the action of submitting a peer review. It would be great if that timestamp could be added to the instructor-side view of the Peer Review list.
