We’re excited to introduce Surveys as a new quiz type for New Quizzes, designed to help educators more easily gather feedback, gauge understanding, or foster open reflection from their students.
Surveys can be configured to collect anonymous or non-anonymous feedback, and graded or ungraded, offering flexibility to meet different instructional goals. Educators will also have access to new Survey data within the ‘Reports’ tab, providing more detailed insights into survey results, allowing for deeper analysis of responses across question types.

Why Educators Will Love It
A Straightforward Survey Experience
Say goodbye to using workaround quiz settings or external tools to gather student input. Surveys in New Quizzes provide a dedicated, intuitive workflow for collecting feedback, saving time and ensuring a consistent experience for instructors and students alike.
Seamless Feedback Collection
Surveys becoming available directly within New Quizzes makes it easier than ever to gather student feedback without leaving your course. Educators can choose between anonymous or identifiable responses, depending on the goal of the survey. Further, it eases the migration burden for instructors migrating their courses from using Classic to New Quizzes.
Encouraging Engagement, Not Evaluation
Surveys are built for lower-stakes participation, giving students a chance to reflect and share their perspectives freely. This empowers instructors to foster open dialogue and continuous improvement in their teaching and course design.
What’s Coming Next
We’re excited to deliver core survey functionality before the end of the year so you can start benefiting from it right away, but there will be more to come in early 2026!
In Q1 2026, we’ll be adding even more survey-related capabilities, including:
- CSV Export of survey results
- Respondents Modal & Expanded Results Page, allowing instructors to click on individual student names for detailed response views
These updates are designed to make Surveys in New Quizzes even more powerful and adaptable for your classroom needs.
Get Started
Surveys will be available starting December 13, 2025, as part of the final Canvas Release of the year. Keep an eye on Canvas Release Notes in early 2026 for added survey capabilities.
Thank you to our community for your feedback and collaboration throughout this process. Your input helps us continue improving Canvas and New Quizzes to create a more scalable and effective experience for teaching and learning. We’re excited to see how you’ll use Surveys in New Quizzes to gather insights, encourage reflection, and support your learning communities.
