Debbie Drake, current Department Director at Southwest Applied Technology College (SWATC), has recently added advancement of Distance Learning to her job description. She has been with SWATC since 2008 as Instructor and Program coordinator of the Business Department, developing practical hands-on education for students wishing to progress in their career goals. She was awarded Cedar City Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year award in 2013.
Drake comes from a business ownership background. For 25 years she was co-owner, manager, and lead designer for D&S Construction, a local award-winning design/build company. Retail store, fitness center, land development, property management, and freelance art work are other companies she has owned over the years in Cedar City.
As a long-time resident of Cedar City, Drake has served her community in many capacities and is currently the President of the Cedar City Arts Council and Vice President of Color Country Toastmasters. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Art Composite from SUU and a Master of Education Degree in Instructional Design from Western Governor’s University.
