Thanks to James for helping me figure out how to ask a question again! We are trying blueprints. I have a master shell that has the sync button in it. But the class we purchased did not have numbers on the assignments and many assignments had the same names. So I renamed the assignments in the master. When I go to sync the numbered assignments show up in the fall term class. The modules are duplicated, and we have duplicated assignments. Do you know why the assignments won't sync? Is it because I changed the names? Thanks in advance! Shauna

@James if you end up making a grease monkey version or a slick interface or something, would you let me know? I showed this to my more open-minded tech-consultant and he was still a little leery. Anyway! Appreciate you! Most of the links to this idea disappeared... broken-link sadness.

@kona and @James Thank you for your never-ending work with Canvas! I am looking for 3 things: 1) The canvancement that auto-opens a rubric in speedgrader. 2) Removing Missing and Late Labels (hyperlink isn't working today) 3) And a Canvancement that I don't think has been created... yet. (Growth mindset?) A way to auto-open or auto-preview multiple photo attachments like the list I have below. Ideally, these would open in the preview pane with three across and form rows below to be scrolled through and clicked to enlarge. After you enlarge one, you could click next to view the next one. (Still cool, but less utopic, would be a NEXT button to the next pic. Thoughts?

I would like to add an optional assignment that does not count to the final grade. But I don't want a "late" marker if students skip it. Will one of the options above allow me to skip the "late" marker?

Thanks for getting back to me. I do that too, when I remember what the course is called! But I would really like to be able to sort by the current term or by my role in the class.

@kona ‌ do you know if there is already a hack to do this? I would really love this feature and it seems like some of the Canvancements that I have already seen.

I know there is a way to make comments in Canvas and have those comments show up in the student google doc. Is uploading the URL the way to do this? The problem is, I don't know which kind of submission leads to this. (Because I've been allowing every kind of submission and I get every kind!!) It only started working for me this year and I've had trouble finding the answer on the communities. I'm looking for the simplest way for students and parents to submit. All work is done remotely from chromebooks, winbooks, or mobile devices. Maybe one of you can help? I want speedgrader to look like this: And I want their google doc to look like this:

We haven't used the faculty journal either, but we are considering it, and I want more feedback on current use before pushing it out to 70 teachers! Maybe I will start a new thread.

I haven't found everything fixed for me. I copy and paste my documents into grammarly, and the paragraph breaks (and sometimes line breaks) don't transfer when copied and pasted. I have to go into grammarly and manually re-enter the breaks. I understand that this is a slightly different issue. But it is still a formatting issue.

I was just thinking about two things... 1. Have you considered an app for the communities or a mobile friendly version? (Is this a feature request somewhere that I could vote up?) 2. Is there a communities slack channel? I'm thinking that it would be a lot easier for me to keep up with new threads if they were organized like slack.

Thanks! The problem seemed to go away after I changed the start date in Canvas to the day before I wanted the first assignment due. Since it is working now, I will probably wait to try your ideas until it stops working again. Thanks for pointing out the difference between validation and invalid. I am sure I will have to problem solve some bits as I just shared this with 100 teachers.

First, James and @kona ‌, you are A.MAZ.ING. Ok, I really want this to work... My Canvas class starts tomorrow. But I get this error. Even when I went in and changed the date format again to allow time, and set available from Sept. 05, at 12:01 am, I got the same message. I thought maybe it was a time-zone issue, but I went back and made sure to adjust time zone before anything else. Same error. I can make the work available for the 6th. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks @kona ‌ and James Jones !!! You guys rock! Shauna
