Hi all, I am working on building a course for a faculty member and one of the activities they would like to do is present a survey question in a page and show the accumulated results back to students as soon as they respond, something like this (note that before I responded, this box displayed the question as a multiple choice): Any ideas? Note that we can't use any Google apps as we have many students in China who can't access them. I am trying with MS Forms right now but it is quite clunky and I'm hoping for a more streamlined option.   ... View more

Hi, I have an instructor who has created three different version of a quiz, each assigned to a third of the class. However, when she goes to the Quiz Moderation menu for each version, the list of students displays all students in the class, not just those who have been assigned the quiz. Is this expected behaviour? If so, does anyone know the design logic behind it? Thanks! ... View more

Hello Canvas community, We have an instructor who created a group assignment (thinking this would help him assign different date times to different students) for oral presentations in a French class. Unfortunately, this means (of course) that each student who made a new submission overwrote the student who had submitted immediately before them. We're trying to find any way that all the submissions could be "recovered" with some way to identify which student submitted it. Any ideas? We've already determined that group submissions (at least group media submissions) do not appear in the Account->Files->Submissions folder, so they can't be recovered that way, and the Submission Details link only shows you the latest submission (as you'd want for a real group assignment). ... Hi Higher Ed community, I'm wondering if any institutions have created their own "Commons," i.e. internal databases that include general templates for sorts of things that not obviously apparent but might be commonly used (or could be more commonly used, if they were easier to implement) in Canvas. The idea was precipitated by a number of instructors asking me how to set up somewhere in their course where students could post their own presentation slides for other students to download - I advised them all to create a Discussion thread, but I'm thinking it might be a good idea to just make a Discussion thread for this purpose (with detailed instructions on how to post for the students pre-written, pertinent options selected, etc.) to minimize work on the instructors' end. Other resources I can think (just off of the top of my head) might be: - Course feedback surveys (ungraded survey with a few general questions, to which instructors could add more) - Step-by-step guides for students that instructors can share as needed - Pre-made weekly discussion threads (12 Discussion threads, one per week of the semester) Of course, the other obstacle to this idea is that it's not super easy to get just one item from a Canvas course to another if the user isn't already an instructor in both courses.
