We are currently running Canvas LMS hosted deployment or our courses at our 2-year college, and now are considering using it also for our non-academic purposes: committees, clubs, entrance tests, etc.
We are considering using a 2nd separate Canvas LMS deployment for the non-academic purposes. Mainly to avoid any possible performance/stability issues it might cause to the system (some of the course shells could have several hundred or even several thousand enrolled). And also to allow for more lenient controls on the system then we could get away with if it was on the academic deployment (non-student/non-employee community users/enrolled, self-enroll options)
My question for discussion is if anyone is doing this, running two separate Canvas LMS deployments, or has anyone considered doing this? What concerns and advantages can you come up with?
