Mark,
If you are on a hosted version of Canvas, I would recommend contacting your Customer Success Manager and asking them for input on these requirements. We have the LTI turned on at my school, but we have everything enabled for Office 365.
If you are open source and self hosting, you should be able to open a ticket with Canvas support from Help > Report a Problem.
There is also a Canvas Users Group:

Hello Mark Van de Velde...
I thought I would check in with you because it's been over a month since there's been any new activity in this discussion topic. Have you had a chance to review the response from Robbie Grant? If so, did it help to answer your question? Or, are you still looking for help with your initial question? If you feel Robbie's answer was "Correct", please mark it as such. But, if you are still looking for assistance with your question, please post a message below so that Canvas Community members can continue to help you. I will share your question with the Canvas User Group: Office 365 group here in the Community in hopes that your question will get some additional exposure. If you're not following that group, use the link I've given you and then click on "Follow". Also, because there hasn't been any new activity in this thread for quite a while, I'm going to mark this question as "Assumed Answered", but that won't prevent you or others from posting additional replies below. I hope that's okay with you. Looking forward to hearing from you, Mark.

Hi Mark
Some really useful findings here - so I am interested if you have had any success in this area.
We are specifically trying to show PowerPoint presentations embedded in the Canvas content page as below. The frustration has been that Microsoft do not seem to have a setting in OneDrive for Business that allows embedding to everyone in the Organisation without sedning them a link. The work arounds are not satisfactory for us at this stage, these are:
Other possible options include: 1) allowing OneDrive for Business files to be made available "Open to Public" (a whole of organisation Microsoft setting) or 2) Turn on the email "everyone@..." (a whole of organisation email setting) will also allow the PowerPoint to work interactively but do not meet required security & privacy requirements.
What we would like is to be able to get embed code from a file PowerPoint file stored in OneDrive for Business that plays interactively to anyone in the organisation without extra emails or approval steps as are currentlt required.
Any ideas or examples would be appreciated.
Hi Kym Schutz,
First you may want to look at this:
Canvas has temporarily disabled this feature to allow the Office 365 document viewer to work with embedded files. Currently only the Canvas DocViewer is enabled on files hosted inside the course files area (I believe). Let’s hope they re-activate this option soon.
I’d be concerned that embedding a file from a user’s OneDrive account assumes that when the course rolls over the next year, the same teacher/user is still working at your institution, and the files are still publically available.
However this could be done, from the Modules area; add a new item and select External Tool, Then find Office 365, and select the file. Until the Offcie365 DocViewer is enabled again however, I don’t believe this will work.
Mark
Thanks Mark Van de Velde...
I also came across this: How do I view my Microsoft Office 365 files in Canvas as a student?
Do you think it looks as though the Offcie365 DocViewer would allow the "interactivity" of PowerPoint, Excel, Word in an embedded frame on the Canvas page?
Your concern about a learning resource in Canvas being linked to a teachers Onedrive account (whether OneDrive Personal or OneDrive for Business) is an important issue. We have Box.net which allows folders to be co-owned and thus ownership handed over, but it does not embed the way we would like in Canvas.... (ie. the Office365 Powerpoint Online player).
For now I am pretty sure we will be recommending teachers to upload their PowerPoints into Canvas. For teachers and learning designers that see the embedding as important for the "seamless student viewing experience", we will eagerly await the Offcie365 DocViewer being made available again.
One thing we do know is that embed code from a OneDrive file set to "public viewing" does work on most devices we have tried including the Canvas mobile APP.

Hi Kym Schutz and Mark Van de Velde - reading this again 18 months later I am guessing that the Office365 Doc viewer was switched off for good?
Still no way to straightforward ways to embed Office documents in Pages.
Not sure if the DocViewer had any impact in the first place?
HI there Gideon
We have virtually dropped the idea of embedding Microsoft files now and are using other more user friendly tools such as H5P (SaaS) for embedded interactivity. The initial pilot has been positive and although H5P tools may not do as many things as say PowerPoint, it is this simplification that the course developers and learners probably appreciate.
Hi back Kym
We have the integration tool too and it works very well. Like its simplicity, like the ability to share interactives/quizzes with other staff and particularly like the ability for students to create their own quizzes. Unfortunately I just don't see staff giving up the core Office tools to move to H5P presentations - that is why we need the embedding so much.
