How to implement spoilers with canvas?

When using canvas html editor, what is (is there even) a supported show/hide (spoiler) tag format?

For example, classic codes/methods to implement show/hide buttons using HTML do not seem to work (only showing the "visible content" and not functioning as a button.

IE:

<div id=”spoiler” style=”display: none;”>
this content is hidden
</div>
<button onclick=”if(document.getElementById(‘spoiler’) .style.display==’none’) {document.getElementById(‘spoiler’) .style.display=”}else{document.getElementById(‘spoiler’) .style.display=’none’}” title=”Click to show/hide content” type=”button”><span style=”font-size: x-large;”>See Answer</span></button></div>
