Rubrics - ranges vs points

Folks

we are investigating the use of rubrics to replicate grading criteria currently used in individual, final year degree projects.  This is currently done through a speadsheet (A below), but we have created two different versions as either point (B), or ranged criteri (C)

There are a number of adavntages and disadvantages for each approach but would be interested to know:

  1. do other people work with rubrics that are this complex/detailed
  2. people's feedback on which they think might be a better approach
  3. what would be the easiest way of styling the point rubric (B) so that it looks more like the original spreadsheet or the ranged rubric (C),i.e. takes up less horizontal space and allows point descriptions to be shared
  4. what would be the easiest way of changing the range rubric (C) so that it works more like the original spreadsheet or the point rubric (B), i.e. focussed on selecting scores within any one range, e g. "very good" at 68 vs 62

Thanks

Guy
