Help--I'm clueless! *smile* What is a .csv file, and how can I create one? Can .doc files be turned into .csv files?
Thanks for reaching out. Let me see if I can unpack this for you a little... .csv is a common file extension for columnar text based data files. CSV stands for "Comma Separated Values." When a computer imports a .csv file into a spreadsheet, or for example, a gradebook, it knows to start adding text to a new column every time it gets to a comma in the text. Does that make sense. You can read more about the CSV file format here.
Maybe the more relevant question is, where are you encountering the term and what is it that you would like to accomplish. Are you attempting to export data out of your Canvas course gradebook or maybe back into it?
Just as a follow up; Dr Fisher and I had a brief direct message exchange on this topic and I believe his question has been answered for now.
