I do not know how to let my students sign up for their own groups, that vary from assignment to assignment.
There are many labs over the course of the semester. (Lab 1, Lab 2, etc.). I want to let students chose their own lab partners, and those can vary depending on the week. So I set up several group sets: Lab 1 Groups for Lab 1, Lab 2 Groups for Lab 2, and so on.
But when I look at it as a student, even though I've checked the option enabling "Self sign-up", there's no way to sign up. Each of these group sets is still completely empty. The students *have* succeeded in making their own "student groups", but I don't care about these--they'd have to be constantly entering and leaving groups as assignments change, and this gets even weirder when they turn in old make-up work that was due 3 or 6 or however many weeks ago.
How can students make their own groups within the sets I've set up?
