In this Canvas Student update, the app supports concluded courses, course invitations, late policies, an inbox notification badge, and opening external tools outside of the app. Announcements, Conversations, Discussions, and Files have all been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility. Admins can use the Act as User link from the User Navigation Menu.

Concluded courses can be viewed in the app and display in a student's All Courses list. Concluded courses can also be added to the Dashboard.
The Dashboard supports course invitations. Course invitations can be accepted or declined.
External Tool Access
External tools can be opened outside of the Student app by tapping the Open in Browser icon. Students can choose to open external tools in a mobile browser or, if applicable, another mobile application.
The Grades page displays late policy rules for assignments. Assignments that have been assessed a late penalty will display the final score, which is the score given by the instructor minus the late penalty.
Late policies can only be managed using the new Gradebook in the browser version of Canvas.
The Inbox supports a notification badge for the number of unread messages in the Inbox.
The Announcements page and pages for individual announcements have been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility.
Rich Content Editor
Students can use the Rich Content Editor when creating an announcement or announcement reply. The Rich Content Editor includes options to format text, add links, and attach images.
The Conversations Inbox and pages for individual messages have been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility.
The options for managing Conversations messages have been moved from the Inbox to the menu for individual messages. The option to forward a message has also been added. Students can no longer manage multiple Conversations messages from the Inbox.
The Discussions page and pages for individual discussions have been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility. Students can now view the availability dates for course discussions.
Rich Content Editor
Students can also use the Rich Content Editor when creating a discussion or discussion reply.
The Files pages for Course Files and User Files have been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility.
Act as User
Admins can use the Act as User link in the User Menu to masquerade as a user in the Student app. While acting as the user, a magenta border displays on every page. Previously, admins could act as a user by double tapping in the profile page of the admin or user.
