[ARCHIVED] Course Creation - Merging Two Academic Classes into One

I am teaching a "stacked" class, one is a graduate level class and one is na undergraduate level classes.  I want to merge the two classes into one.  I see an option for my other class that has labs associated with it to merge them into one, but no such option for the "stacked" class.

Is there anyway to merge two separate classes into one?

Your canvas admin should be able to cross-reference any courses you ask for.  Just keep in mind that they will only be able to preserve your previous set-up work in one or the other canvas courses. After the cross-referencing, you will be able to assign some assignments to specific sections, if you choose.  I have only used this feature where my classes are video linked sections of the same course meeting at the same time, but if you have a lot of duplicated content for the stacked sections, it might help.

This is called cross-listing, and Canvas has the ability to cross-list courses. Some schools restrict the ability for teachers to cross-list courses due to FERPA  requirements, but if you have the ability to cross-list, this guide will show you how, How do I cross-list a section in a course as an instructor?

If you do not have this permission, then you will need to ask your school's Canvas Admin for help, and they may only permit cross-listing under certain specific circumstances.

This "Answer" is all over Canvas and it does NOT address the question being asked. Please stop COPY/PASTING. The questions ARE NOT always about cross-listing. What a frustrating forum going on throughout Canvas on this issue.

Generally, if someone wishes to "combine" two separately listed courses/sections in Canvas, it is accomplished by using the cross-listing option in Canvas.  While this may not be the same as a course officially cross listed in your student information system (SIS), that's the term Canvas uses.  We generally will call things "officially cross-listed" if the cross-listing comes from the SIS, or "manually combined" if the cross-listing feature of Canvas is used.  As @kmeeusen and others have mentioned, many schools/institutions restrict the use of this feature to admins only, or sometimes not even admins, so you might not see it available in your courses but it is the correct process to use in Canvas.
