The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
Am I losing my mind, or did the Publish/Unpublish button on a course home page change twice recently? After the 7/15 production update there was a toggle that replaced the previous Publish/Unpublish buttons. This change was also mentioned by @kblack in the comments section of the release notes. As a result I updated some of our training documents to reflect this change.
Yesterday (after being away all last week) I noticed the toggle replaced by newer Publish/Unpublish buttons.
So, once again I updated the training documents.
Did this change really happen twice? Am I losing it? Will it change weekly now? Kidding - I just want to know if anyone else experienced this.
Thanks,
Holly

No, you aren't going crazy. I noticed this change as well. I remember reading through the discussion on the release notes about the change in the publish button and how it was much harder to see and recognize with the initial change. I am sure Instructure responded to the feed back and made the change back to the old way of publishing and unpublishing the course. Personally I am glad that the toggle did not last long.
Thank you for responding - thought I was loosing it. I did not like the toggle either. At least the newer buttons resemble the older ones enough that I don't have to do much updating to our training documents. The toggle on the other hand.....ugh!
Holly:
Don't listen to Tim. You may still be going crazy, you have every right to, this is a free country and you can go anywhere you want to! I, personally, am booking the crazy train for my next vacation.

Thanks, Kelley. Always good to smile on a Monday morning.
You are very welcome, Holly!
I gave feedback at InstCon and to my rep about how much harder those thin outlines are to read than the old solid colored icons. Our faculty is older and not tech savvy, so making buttons clear for them is important. I was told I would have to use code to improve them at this point.
We've heard similar complaints here. Depending on the program, we do not always have the most tech savvy instructors. What I wish the most is that they would just pick one icon and stick to it, I am sick of it changing.
