We are using PowerTeacher Pro and assignments have to be assigned to all sections with a due date or to Everyone in order to pass from Canvas to PTP. My thought was teachers would assign to everyone and then Excuse (EX) entire sections if it wasn't really assigned to them... but Set Default Grade doesn't let you enter EX... Anyone found a way around this? Without having to manually enter EX for each student? Or a way to pass back to PTP without assigning to each section? powerteacher pro gradepassback excuse assignment grading defaultgrade

Hello @jcrawford
Taking a look at your question, it doesn't seem Canvas has a way to auto excuse a student from assignments in bulk.
This would be a great addition however to excuse an individual, or a whole section entirely, from a subset of assignments.
I am seeing a similar question being asked here, https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Is-there-a-way-to-auto-excuse-students-from...
I will be posting to that thread as well letting them know what we are seeing, but this sounds like a great additional feature to Canvas. I would suggest posting that Idea to our Ideas page here: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Idea-Conversations/idb-p/ideas
Hi @jcrawford ~ The most efficient way to do this is to assign the activity to only specific sections, rather than excusing one section. See https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10036-4152101241?sr=search&searchId=add2348c-4631-4cd2-a069... for more information. Unfortunately, this would remove the activity from the view of those to whom the activity wasn't assigned; that's not ideal if there is also important content included in the activity information. Unfortunately, with the current gradebook, there is not a way to do a "bulk excused" action. However, you could follow https://community.canvaslms.com/community/ideas/priority-gradebook-enhancements?sr=search&searchId=2... for updates or you can always submit a feature idea in https://community.canvaslms.com/community/ideas?sr=search&searchId=a8a68c08-0521-47dc-ae36-25ae599b9.... I hope this helps!
