[ARCHIVED] How do I delete a front page in pages section of a course

I am totally clueless. I hit add as the FRONT PAGE and I really didnt want it to be the page people are directed to and that comes up first in pages?

can anyone help?

Deactivated user​, absolutely we can help! Since I'm not sure what exactly you'd like for your Home Page, here are two different resources that should help.

• How do I change the Course Home Page? - This will help you change your Course Home page to something other than the Front Page. This wold be used if you do not want a "Front Page" as the first thing student see when they enter your course.
• Where is the Front Page and how do I edit it? - This should help explain more about what the front page is and how you can change it. This is for if you want a page as your Home Page, just not the page that is currently set as your Front Page

OK, but what this says is that once you have set a page as a "Front Page" you must ALWAYS have at least one active page in your course that has the "Front Page" designation. I can set up my home page so that the "Front Page" doesn't display, but if I have created a page and set it as a "Front Page" I have no way to delete all pages or to not have one set as a front page. This is a bug NOT a feature. One should have the option to NOT have a front page any longer, even if one has designated a page as a front page already. There is no logical, functional reason to force a page to exist as published and designated as a front page if one isn't using it at all.

Here's a workaround.  Add a new dummy page.  Make the dummy page the Front Page. 

Make a new empty course.  Import everything except the dummy page into the new course.  Settings | Imported Content into this course | Content Type: Copy a Canvas Course | Content: Select specific content.

Your new course will not have a Front Page designated.

The link that @kona had linked to in her post pointed to the old Canvas Community site.  That link doesn't seem to re-direct to the proper link any more.  The link that would replace that is Unassigning the Front Page - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).  However, instead of using the steps outlined in James' blog post, you can do this much easier by following the steps in this Guide: How do I set a Front Page in a course? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).  Check out the section called "Remove Front Page" near the bottom of that Guide.

What do you want your students to see when they open Canvas? You have some options. Here are the steps:

First, go to Home in your Course Navigation Bar. Then click on "Choose Home Page," which will be one of the options on the right side of your screen. Then you can choose what your students will see when they open your Canvas course.
