The "Total Grade" in Canvas is not always accurate, for example I have a course that only requires 60% or 600/1000 points to pass and I have a student with over 700 points and it is showing a grade of 'F.' I have of course overridden this grade, but I do not understand why the Canvas calculation is inaccurate.
Thank you,
Linda

Thank you all! It was the grading scheme that was set incorrectly.

@lhadleyk , do you possibly have weights being calculated or do you have a grading scheme set that would have a 70% as a "F"? Just a couple thoughts to why this could be happening.

Hi @lhadleyk ,
Are you using a grading scheme in your course? If so, I believe it's a good idea to review it, looks like it might have a problem. You can check the guide below that shows how to use grading schemes in Canvas:
How do I use grading schemes in a course?
Hope this helps!
Hi @lhadleyk
If you are still using the legacy gradebook, then you will want to deselect the "treat Ungraded as Zero" checkbox. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10225-4152181047
