Our Math faculty use Hawkes Learning in both their online and F2F courses, and this product is not accessible.
Does anyone know of a comparable system, preferably one that integrates with Canvas, that is accessible?
Thank you.
Kelley
Hi @kmeeusen !
First, thank you for asking this question! Second, I'm compiling a list of math and science (STEM) accessible resources. Here are a few and might help:
OpenStax- Accessible OER etext (this might be what you're looking for)
Accessibility Statement- meets WCAG 2.0 level A (this shows effort and possibilities)
VitalSource- Check for accessible etext
Anyone else? Let's keep the accessible STEM resources coming! ![]()

Thank you so much for sharing this list of resources. I will curate, and make some recommendations to our math faculty and their Dean. However, the Hawkes system is so much more than a text or equation writer, and also includes interactive activities, assessments, and much more. I think that by mashing up some things, and actually performing some teaching functions, our Math faculty could ween themselves from Hawkes, but I am not hopeful.
I will also echo your plea that others jump in and share even more resources.
enjoy your weekend!

Hey Agent K!
I completely understand. It sounds like the Hawks systems has robust options. Some of our departments are using Pearson Mastering along with custom text and etext. The Mastering platform has some limitations but Pearson is committed to accessibility. Another option.
I'm also interested in this (just started on a little thing)... I'll share anything I dredge up or glom together.
Weaning to stuff that does the interactivity we need, accessibly is an awesome goal
Thank you for the resources!
I also really like the UCB Phet Sims for STEM classes.
