How do I add bonus questions to quizzes?

Hi  @gina_noble  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

This can easily be done by adding a zero-point item in the quiz, then hand-grading it for the desired point value. I do this on every exam as an extra credit item, and I use an essay question item type.

Luckily, when grading with SpeedGrader, you can go from student-to=-student with the focus remaining on that item.

Why would I hand grade a class of 100? I’m using Canvas so I don’t have to hand grade. Fix it.

We use Canvas so we don’t have to grade every quiz or exam, especially in huge classes. Please don’t ask me to add extra work to my load when I’m using Canvas, especially when other programs of this caliber provide the feature.

Thanks for your question. To add an extra credit question to a quiz, you would make it worth 0 points. Then after students have completed the quiz, you would manually grade that extra credit question scoring with the amount of "extra" points you want to award.
