Hello!
Has anyone here implemented WalkMe to your instance of Canvas? If so, what has been your experience with it? Is it worth the cost? Have you seen increased productivity and few support/training issues? Thanks!
Hi James,
We have implemented WalkMe with one instance of Canvas that we use. It seems to work just fine and was not difficult to get started with. As far as the costs go, I suppose that would be tied to your goals. It seems like a good tool for creating a guided tour within Canvas.
Hey Scott!
I got a demo from a school using it. Cost may be an issue for us, as it's per instructor and we have a lot. Our costs would be more than an FTE in my group!
Hey James,
That doesn't surprise me. All of the vendor quotes I have seen in this market have not been trivial. Also, per active user is the contract model I have seen as well.
Hello!
I am happy to hear a discussion about using WalkMe with Canvas! I was told by a Canvas Admin there were issues implementing WalkMe and I am happy it sounds like these have been resolved. I am hopeful the Canvas groups I support now would be interested in trying WalkMe out!
I am Certified in WalkMe advanced implementation with experience implementing and building WalkMe for a completely different type of platform (CRM). This implementation was a more advanced effort requiring the use of jQuery solutions often. I would definitely rate the customer support for this effort as excellent. WalkMe really stepped up to the plate with any issues we had and was invested in our successful deployment.
If you have any questions about this feel free to post them 🙂 (And no, I don't work for WalkMe! hahaha...) Thanks for the post!
Jamie 🙂
Hi James,
We have been using WalkMe for a few years at a large University, with varying success. The initial project was to support a QA process, which was reasonably effective.
We have encountered the biggest issues when trying to run interactions across domains. Canvas is increasingly using iframes for many of what seem like integrated tools, eg Studio, New Analytics, New Quizzes etc as well as Turnitin, Google Drive etc. We are unable to provide interactions into these areas and usually resort to providing information before users enter these areas, which is not ideal.
It would be good to hear of anyone else's experiences too.
Hello Philip!
As I mentioned above, I was part of an implementation of WalkMe with a rather archaic and complicated CRM, which used iFrames extensively! In fact, the ability of WalkMe to handle iFrames and popups was part of my POC requirements during the initial negotiation process. They were able to meet that demand.
I am curious what WalkMe had to say about that iFrame issue you experienced? They were great about developing a solution for us at that time. Note: as I mentioned above also due to the platform's clumsy programming, we did have to use jQuery often.
Looking forward to hearing what they said 🙂 I am very hopeful for a solid implementation of WalkMe with Canvas some day. There are certainly areas where WalkMe could add high value!
Jamie
