No Direct Public Assertion Link in Notification Mail

I've noticed that the notification mail includes two links to the badge that require a login, one behind the image and one behind the "Go to the Bagde" button. Both links point to /my-badges/badges/<BADGE_ID> page, which redirects to the login if the user is not already logged in.

Then there is a third link behind the "Download" button, which points to the public page but also automatically starts the download of the badge image: /public/assertions/<ID>?identity__email=<mail>&action=download

If I remember correctly, in previous versions there was a direct link to the public assertion included in the mail. Now, either the user is "forced" to log in and create an account (if they don't have one yet) or they have to manually adjust the link behind "Download" (remove the action=download) to get to their public assertion link.

Am I missing some configuration setting to allow/enable the desired behavior or has this simply been removed?

We did have a Notification Enhancement update last year, which added functionality for customizing notifications at the Organization level. Here is a link to those release notes: Credentials-Release-Notes-2024-03-11
 
From those release notes: Email notifications allow users to view the badge online [1] or Download [2] the badge directly from the notification.

Clicking the 'View Badge Online' link does lead to the Backpack. Users would need to login to view the badge award in their Backpack.

I was not seeing a specific update in our Release Notes regarding a change to the links that show in Badge Award Notification Emails. If you want to submit a feature request to have public assertion links included in notification emails, please reach out to our support team at support@badgr.com and we would be glad to get that feature request submitted on your behalf.
