In the Grade view for each student, the Status column clearly identifies when an assignment is late or missing. However, when an assignment is dropped, nothing appears in the status column. Instead, the assignment is only lightly grayed out. This visual distinction is subtle and can be difficult for instructors and students to quickly identify. The lack of a clear “dropped” status can lead to confusion, misinterpretation of grades, or missed questions about why a particular score is not being counted.
Add a “Dropped” label in the Status column (similar to “Late” or “Missing”) for assignments that have been excluded from grade calculations. This would create a consistent visual and textual cue across all assignment statuses. The clearer labeling would make it immediately obvious to both students and instructors why an assignment score is not included, improving transparency and reducing grade-related confusion.
