Adjust all assignment and quiz dates on a single page

The Problem:

Managing dates one item at a time is tedious when you are planning an entire semester. This is true for new classes, but also for existing classes since the ability to globally adjust imported dates never works for the way my institution designs new semesters.

I would like a spreadsheet format that shows all date related events on one page. I could then set up all events and synchronize them where necessary. This could be an online form, or the ability to download a csv template and reupload the dates.

I have attached a simplified snapshot of this kind of spreadsheet.

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

I've created some extended functions for  @James ‌ google sheet that allow you to create a list of dates for a term and then apply them to all assignments in a course.  It just takes what he was working torwards and adds one more tool for those of use who use the same dates for multiple classes.  Read about it here:  Canvas Bulk Date Editor (Google Sheet)

Deactivated user‌ I found this Feature Idea while searching for ideas concerning being able to bulk adjust all due dates. Working as an ID at a college in Florida, I have had multiple faculty members ask me, after our week off due to the hurricane, if there was a way to adjust all due dates without having to change each one individually. It is good to see that Canvas realizes the need for such a feature and plans to look into this in the future. I would imagine this as a tool that would allow faculty to choose what assignments either through individual selection or a date range and then provide the amount of time to add to each assignment—something similar to how dates can be adjusted during course copy. Thank you for acknowledging this.

Thank you for the message. I would like to refer this idea to my colleague, Deactivated user‌, who now "owns" the assignment workflows in Canvas.  I know there is a lot of thinking going on. We will share more as we can regarding this and other assignment features.

I absolutely love the google sheet solution and it has made me a hero to all of the folks who need mass date changes. We do not give individual faculty the ability to get access codes. Our security team feels it is too risky.  Therefore, I cannot offer this as a solution. (I also love the counting discussion points Canvancement, which again only a select few can use.)  Can anyone here weigh in on the security risk of letting faculty get Access Tokens for their own courses?

As an instructor, after using the google docs to manage dates, I can tell you I would REALLY be angry if they took it away.   It saves me literally hours every semester.  If you don't want your faculty to be angry with you, don't let them find out about this time-saver.

I have some instructors that I taught how to use this canvancement. Even some of my "more hands on faculty" use it. It is great and saves instructors time since the adjust due dates when they copy a course doesn't work they way they expect it to.

Hi, Chris.  Just to save time, specifically what idea have you taught other faculty?  Is it the spreadsheet idea? (I fail so miserably searching for solutions because of threaded discussions.  Where can I find the final solution instead of having to read comments about the problem?) )
