Hi,
We would like to be able to prevent certain file types/extensions from being uploaded to the Files area of Canvas. It would be great if we could have some kind of admin control at the account/subaccount level to control what can or cannot be uploaded. Our specific use case is that we have video systems (Kaltura and MediaSite) integrated into Canvas and we really want all video content to be placed in one of those systems, as they provide a better playback experience and have better tools for captioning content. So we'd want to either provide a list of restricted files extensions (for us, probably mp4, mpg, avi, m4v and so on...) or a list different file type categories predefined by Canvas (maybe document, video, text, spreadsheet and so on). As part of this, we would like to be able to customize the message a user receives if they try to upload a restricted file type (for our case, we'd provide links to how-to articles for uploading to Kaltura and Mediasite).
Thanks for considering!
-Chris
