I am very happy to see that Group Sets now copy from one course to a new course, and that they are applied to the same assignments. This definitely saves time when setting up courses each term. I would like to take this idea a step further and request that we have the ability to preserve the number of groups within a group set as well. For example, one of our courses uses "Discussion Groups". As the same number of students take this course each semester, it would be great if we could also preserve the group numbers as well (e.g. "Discussion Group 1, Discussion Group 2...Discussion Group 15"). While the group set is preserved now, we have to manually create each group within the group set - this can be time intensive in high enrollment class. In these cases, it's sometimes easier just to delete the group set and recreate it so we can automatically and randomly assign students to groups. That said, if we do that, we have to reapply the recreated group set to any applicable assignments, discussions, etc.
As stated above, it would be great if we had the option to preserve the number of groups AND the group set when copying one Canvas site to another. We have high enrollment courses that have a consistent number of students enrolled in the class so the same number of groups are used each semester. If we did not have to manually re-add groups to the group set that would save time. Thanks for considering!
