[Elementary] Canvas Elementary and Nicknames

Problem statement:

When applying Elementary Theme to our existing Canvas, Teachers and Students can no longer give courses a nickname.

Proposed solution:

Provide an option to revert names to the original course names and not use course nicknames on the Dashboard. Perhaps adding a + like in vanilla Canvas Dashboard where they can only revert nicknames and not rename them. When teachers and students renamed before the change over to Elementary theme, the nickname change went across and they can't identify the course they are looking for by its real name.

With Canvas for Elementary, there is an option to create a Friendly Name for each course. 

From the 2021-11-10 Release Notes:
The Friendly Name field allows teachers to set a nickname for subjects. Friendly names display for all users enrolled in the course and display in the Home page, homeroom announcement, calendar, subject header, Global Navigation Menu, and notifications.

Are you looking to provide students who work in Canvas for Elementary themed courses to have the ability to change the nickname of a course, or would teacher control on that process be enough of a customization option?
