The instructor has a ton of assignments in their course and finds their gradebook difficult to navigate. They want to be able to quickly dismiss/remove an assignment column.
When the instructor hovers their mouse over the assignment name, let an X appear in the corner of the column header that will allow the instructor to hide it. Maybe there could also be preset filters for "hidden" and "unhidden" assignments that the instructor can quickly flip through. There are ways to accomplish this but they require extra setup time and planning.
For example -- creating an assignment group for "hidden assignments" allows you to filter that group out on the gradebook. It could work, but depending on how the instructor has their course organized, it might not be feasible to move them into different groups. If the instructor just wants to quickly hide something from the gradebook without changing stuff in their course, there's no way to do that.
