If an observer has many students they are observing, for example, an advisor who has been given observer role for all his or her student advisees, the dropdown list of students in the observer dashboard of grades is not sorted by name, either first or last name, therefore it is not very useful. With more than 10 students, it becomes cumbersome to try to find the student you are looking for to look at the student's grades.
The proposed solution is that the dropdown list of students be sorted by either first or last name--ideally the option for choosing either sort would be ideal. The reason this is important is that there are use cases where the observer role is very useful for student advisors, particularly in higher education, but when an advisor has many students as advisees over 10 or 15, the dropdown is not useful unless it is sorted.
