Currently, Canvas doesn't have a drafts folder, nor auto-save feature. In the event of errors/bugs/power loss, email drafts are lost. A significant bug occurs with print dialog box. I have a bad habit of accidentally triggering print while fast typing and as soon as I close the print dialog box, the Canvas draft dialog box crashes with an unspecified error: "Something Broke", and my draft is gone forever. Further, if I'm logged out of my system, sometimes I'm also logged out of Canvas. If I hit send and I'm logged out, then my draft is also gone forever. I can envision similar problems for accidental power loss during drafting, etc. Further, the message dialog box doesn't have a RTE. I'd like to be able to draft with bold/italic/sub & superscript/latex typesetting for math, small screenshots inline, create inline hyperlinks, etc. to help students.
We need both a drafts folder, as well as an auto-save draft feature similar to other platforms. Having a drafts folder will also allow us to recover messages after errors/logouts/power loss/etc. and allow us to draft bulk messaging to students. While you're at it, it would be great to include the RTE for drafting so we have the ability to draft with bold/italic/sub & superscript/latex typesetting for math, small screenshots inline, create inline hyperlinks, etc. to help students and make messaging more specific and clear.
