It would be nice to have the option to add a signature block that can automatically be added to "Inbox" messages as well as discussion posts.

I too would like a way to add a simple Thank you, Name.

Instructure simply doesn't understand what faculty need, how we use LMS, how our teaching gets done...and simply doesn't care. Adding an auto signature block - which, as has been pointed out numerous times, is a common feature everywhere.....except here. Nor has this company acknowledged the comments going back YEARS. Even Moodle has this function.
