Currently, it is only possible to set one session duration for the Student and Teacher apps. That setting then lets the mobile session expire X minutes after login. We find this method of x minutes after login to be old-fashioned. In most apps, it is common for the session to expire after x minutes of inactivity, or a combination of x minutes after login and x minutes after inactivity. In 2023, Instructure came up with a plan to improve Mobile session duration. Unfortunately, we have been informed by our CSM that this is no longer on the backlog.
In order to better balance between user experience and security, we still wish for an improved solution for session expiration that includes a combination of x minutes after login and x minutes after inactivity. Additionally, we would like this session duration to be separately configurable for the teacher and student apps.
