I have migrated to new quizzes and consistently have an issue with students needing more time on a quiz because they had tech issues. With online courses, I usually never know that this has happened until after they run out of time (i.e., the attempt is considered completed). The feature currently available to help with giving extra time is useful if you were in class together proctoring and knew the moment they had an issues, this isn't the case for online asynchronous courses.
The only work around is to give them another attempt and use the "build on last attempt" feature, HOWEVER this means that they get the entire time back! So if they were already working on a quiz that has a 30 min time limit for 15 mins, I just want to reopen it and give them 15 more minutes. There is currently no way to do this. They get another attempt with the full 30 mins.
We need either
If you do not have these features, there is no way to make assessments fair across students because when a student has a tech failure, then the only way to allow them to complete the exam is to give them more time than everyone else in the class. This feature is a necessity for implementing fair online asynchronous courses.
