We want more flexibility in how to calculate grades to match our government expectation that grades reflect the consistent achievement of students with more focus on recent achievement. An arithmetic mean does not do that. We are looking for the use of a median or mode to be added to help us comply with the government mandate.
"For Course and Account Outcomes, please consider adding a grade Calculation Method based on the median. This would be a more effective method for our school than using the average, while allowing us to continue using a method that is easier for students and parents to understand than the Weighted Average or Decaying Average methods."
