There is no quick tool (like Speed Grader) that collects peer review materials and allows either the instructor to view them independent of the assignment or to automatically assign a completion grade. For example: Students submit an assignment and are required to then peer review one other student. As an Instructor, I want them to use an annotation tool (text, highlight, annotate, etc.), leave a comment, and complete the rubric. To ensure that the peer reviews have been done correctly, I must manually check each assignment and each student's annotations, comments, and rubrics so that I can assign them a grade on a different Peer review "assignment" in the gradebook.
My proposed solution is to allow the creation of Peer Review assignments that are linked to the peer reviews of particular assignments. Therefore, there is no "submission" for these Peer Review assignments other than the peer review done by the students. The Peer Review assignment should be configurable such that Instructors can assign what we require: highlighting, commenting, annotating, rubrics, etc. The speed grader output of this should be these items for each student's peer review so we can either quickly or automatically assign grades based on their completion of a peer review. This would greatly increase the amount of flexibility we have in ensuring that we have compliance and quality in our peer reviews, while also allowing flexibility in grading them.
