[Permissions] Admin Control to Lock Course Start and End Dates - Subaccounts
Admins currently have the ability to lock teachers from adjusting course start/end dates on the root account. While helpful for universities that have courses that start/end on the same date, the current lack of granularity with this feature poses an issue for those institutions that may utilize different course start/end dates during a term. The issue we encounter is that some departments/colleges, i.e. College of Law, want to restrict teachers from changing their start/end dates in courses as a way of 1) standardizing access to courses, 2) encouraging timely submission of grades at the end of the semester, and 3) to aid in the consistency of reporting data. Because there isn't a way to restrict this functionality on a subaccount level in Canvas, we are unable to restrict access for those particular users.
The solution for this issue is to include the "Don't let teachers modify course availability dates" functionality on the subaccount level so that admins in various subaccounts can control whether or not teachers can change course dates. This will help ensure that departments have the ability to restrict teacher changes to course availability without forcing at the root account level.
