Microsoft recently changed (2023) the default font in the MS Office Suite from Calibri to Aptos (Aptos (typeface) - Wikipedia). Aptos is currently not a "supported font" for the Document Reader in SpeedGrader. Since Aptos in not supported, it means the Word Count feature in speed grader is not accurate for this font. Since teachers may depend on the Word Count displayed in SpeedGrader to understand if a student has met the minimum requirement for an assignment, it seems important for this default font to be supported as soon as possible.
Adding the Aptos font to the supported fonts in Canvas Document Reader to get accurate Word Count for papers created using the default font in MS Office Suite.
