Discussions typically require multiple posts by students before they are ready for grading. Any student who has posted in the discussion shows up in Speedgrader as having something ready to grade in the Canvas system, which requires a lot of scrolling to determine how many posts they have before knowing if they are even ready to review.
Blackboard has a setting so that I only see in the 'needs grading' option those students who have posted 3 or 4 times (whatever number I select). This setting would be a great addition to Canvas!
