[Support] Clarifying Terminology With a Local Glossary: Duplicate/Copy to/Send to
Canvas users often confuse the meaning of similar commands provided in the 3-dot (kabob) drop-down list (e.g., on the modules page). One might easily mistake "copy to" for "duplicate"; and "copy to" for "move to," or "send to," etc. It's also easy to mistakenly place an existing item on the Modules page into two places (Add item), when you meant to create a new, reusable version (Duplicate) of that item. The terminology used within Canvas may be specifically applied, but in common parlance, we may mix up the terms and not be aware of which command to use in what circumstances. Note: Currently, there are little descriptions that appear under each command when you hover over it, but they are not specific enough (e.g., Duplicate's mini-message shows as "duplicate item"), nor is there enough space in that little little box for a distintive definition. Users might also not hover over the command long enough to notice the message.
Have a mini-glossary specifically for these easily confused terms pop up in a box beside the the drop-down menu when you open it. Alternatively, have a glossary button for these specific terms that can be selected from the drop-down menu to pop up when desired. Definitions would need to be written carefully so as to be brief but adequately explicate the differences between the options. Having them all pop up on one box together, rather than in separate rollover mini-messages, would help elucidate the differences.
