Warning when submitting quiz (not based on timing)

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

Right now, if a student has answered all the questions and still has time, they can click submit and Canvas instantly submits the quiz. There is no warning "Are you sure you want to submit this quiz?" This means that if a quiz has only one attempt, and a student clicks submit (whether on purpose or by accident) the quiz is submitted. There is no warning option in case the student really wasn't ready.

I don't see any "ideas" about that only about warnings for running out of time. I really think any quiz needs to have a warning on submission regardless of whether the questions are all answered or not, or there is still time left, or if multiple attempts are allowed. Please put a simple warning that the user is about to do something they can't take back.

Yes, you are correct.  We had a batch of typos go out with this cohort and there isn't an easy automatic way to fix them.  It won't affect the functioning of the idea however.  It will still close in January of next year, or would if it hadn't reached the threshold that is...

Thank you for the reminder of this submission warning idea. We will consider this as we work on our Modern Quizzing Engine !

Just had a student request this feature as they clicked Submit when they meant to click Next.

Something that happens COMMONLY:

Student is taking a quiz that has a essay question as the last question.

Student presses "tab" in like they would in a word processor to make a indentation.

Student doesn't notice that "Tab" in a web browser move the cursor to the next clickable item.   (Which is the submit button)

Student keeps typing, (probably looking at the keyboard instead of the screen) , the next time the student hits the spacebar, the browser clicks the submit button.

Quiz is submitted without the student realizing it.

I can't believe this simple problem hasn't been solved yet with the community support it has and it directly effecting grades and the teacher's/student's experience. Not exactly difficult to add a confirm submission pop-up.

I have had three quizzes submit without warning this semester (fall 2020). The Submit button is the same color and in the same location as the Next button.
