Course is locked and gray

One of my courses is gray on the home page and it has a lock where the grades normally are.

It seems I can, however, access the content.

My professor and the school's Canvas help desk are being unhelpful, telling me they have no idea what it could be. So can someone tell me what the gray course means and how to solve it?

(For extra information: it's the same on mobile and PC. My other courses are working fine and I've not experienced this in years prior. My devices are compatible.)

I've got a test on Canvas coming up, so I'd like everything to be confirmed working before that. I hope someone can help!

Hi @usahana,

According to the How do I use the Dashboard in the Canvas app guide, the lock symbol you're seeing (where the grade would usually be displayed) means that your teacher has hidden grade totals for the course.   The gray is just the randomly assigned default color for the course (you can change that if you'd like to using).  So overall I don't think there are any particular problems with the course, everything seems ot be functioning as designed.

In that case, every student in the course should see the lock sign, right? I am asking as in a very large class I have only had a handful bring this to my attention. Until I read the above response, I did not know why the lock sign was there.
