Canvas Student Release Notes (iOS 7.8)

In Canvas Student 7.8, the Inbox has new functionality and an updated user interface. Additionally, Ungraded Quizzes and Surveys display in the ToDo list.

Canvas iOS app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Student iOS App requires iOS 15.0 or later.

Inbox

Additional Functionality and Interface Updates

In the Inbox, a variety of changes are made to improve functionality such as changes to filters, icons and message displays and improvements to dark mode. Additionally, the inbox interface is refreshed with an updated design.

 Course Filter

The Courses filter drop-down menu displays an updated interface.

The Folder drop-down menu displays an updated interface.

 Reply Options

When viewing a message, a Reply icon is added [1]. Additionally, the Message Options icon displays all reply options in an updated menu interface [2].

Note: The Reply icon replies only to the sender. The Reply All option is consolidated to only include the recipients in the previous email.

Replying to Message Interface

When replying to a message the subject field is automatically populated [1] and students can view the previous message from the sender [2]. To expand the previous message, tap the down arrow icon [3].

Message Recipients Bulk Add

 Additionally, when composing a message, students can add recipients simultaneously.

 Message Attachement

Additionally,The Send link is replaced with a Send icon [1] and remains fixed on the page. The Attach icon is moved to the Message field [2] and attachments display as thumbnails when uploaded [3] .To preview an attachment, tap the attachment thumbnail.

Note: If the subject field is left blank when sending a message, it will automatically populate with No Subject.

 Annotate and Download Icons

File attachments can be annotated using the Annotation icon [1]. All attachments can be downloaded using the Download icon [2].

 Sent Attachment Thumbnails

In Sent messages, attachments display as thumbnails.

 Unsaved Changes Modal

When canceling a draft in progress, a confirmation modal displays.

Ungraded Quizzes and Surveys display in the ToDo list.
