In Canvas Teacher 1.29, the Inbox has new functionality and an updated user interface.
Canvas iOS app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Teacher iOS App requires iOS 16.0 or later.

Inbox
Additional Functionality and Interface Updates
The Inbox interface is refreshed with an updated design. Additionally, a Reply icon is added when viewing messages and instructors can view previous messages from a sender when replying to a message.

Inbox Filters
In the Inbox, the filter link is removed. To filter by courses, tap the All Courses drop-down menu [1]. To filter by different folders, tap the Inbox drop-down menu [2].

Reply Options
When viewing a message, a Reply icon is added [1]. Additionally, the Message Options icon displays an updated menu interface [2].
Note: The Reply icon replies only to the sender. The Reply All option is consolidated to only include the recipients in the previous email.
Reply Message Interface
When replying to a message the subject field is automatically populated [1] and students can view the previous message from the sender [2]. To expand the previous message, tap the down arrow icon [3].

Additionally, when composing a message, instructors can add recipients simultaneously.
Compose Message Attachment Display
Additionally,The Send link is replaced with a Send icon [1] and remains fixed on the page. The Attach icon is moved to the Message field [2] and attachments display as thumbnails when uploaded [3]. To preview an attachment, tap the attachment thumbnail.
Note: If the subject field is left blank when sending a message, it will automatically populate with No Subject.
Attachment Annotation and Download Icons
File attachments can be annotated using the Annotation icon [1]. All attachments can be downloaded using the Download icon [2] and copied [3].
Sent Message Attachment View
In Sent messages, attachments display as thumbnails.
Unsaved Changes Modal
When canceling a draft in progress, a confirmation modal displays.
