I created a second column for an adjusted midterm score but am not certain how to ensure how to code the midterm column with the full scores so that they don't count in the gradebook. I want their adjusted score to register and not both their midterm exam and their adjusted score. Is there a way to do that without deleting the midterm exam column?

If you're not going to count the exam grade, you could make the exam a "Practice Quiz", so it won't be included in the grade calculation. However, the Practice Quiz will not appear in the Gradebook. The students could still see the exam grade by looking at quiz Results.
