We want to add a tick box statement to the assignment submission window where students will declare that the work they are submitting is their own prior to the work being submitted.
Is anyone aware if this is possible or perhaps can suggest an alternative method of declaring authenticity?
Thanks
Hello @tony_mcconnell ! I was reading in the Admin guide, ( https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Admin-Guide/How-do-I-set-details-for-an-account/ta-p/194) about a similarity pledge that can be created. You must have a plagiarism LTI installed.
Is this what you were looking for?
Hi @tony_mcconnell,
The declaration will only appear for assignments that are configured to use Turnitin. If the assignment isn't set up for plagiarism detection, I'm not aware of a way to have a declaration box like that available.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for that. I have created a test assignment using Turnitin but the declaration is still missing. Maybe I need to contact Turnitin as well.

Hi @tony_mcconnell,
Sorry for the delayed response. I'd definitely reach out to your local Canvas team (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas) to ask about this. It could be that they disabled the declaration option somehow or are using a version of the Turnitin integration with Canvas which does not support it.
-Chris
Thanks Chris. I'll definitely follow it up with Canvas and post a solution when I get one.
Tony
