Assignments Grouped to Equal 100% but Final Grades Showing as over 100%

Thank you for helping. I have four Assignment Groups in Assignments totally 100%. Within each group are multiple quizzes, writing assignments, etc., as per normal.

I just entered a grade in one of the groups after so far having entered ten other assignment scores, and suddenly students have over 100% in the category in the gradebook, which has also pushed their total grades over 100%.

Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?

Hi @mgoldie,

It appears likely that one of two things are happening here.

1. You have as assignment in that group where the points are accidentally entered as 0, essentially adding extra credit points when that assignment is graded (10 points earned out of 0 possible).
2. The grade given and the points possible don't match up.  This is a more general case of the above.  You have have an assignment worth 10 points, but when grading the grades entered were out of 100 points (this is just an example).

I'd recommend checking each individual assignment in that category for these scenarios.  I'm pretty sure you'll find at least one of them, and then can fix the issue once you find it.
