Hello!
I am testing BluePrints and I am noticing once a course copy occurs locked BluePrint pages duplicate. Does anyone know a way around this? We would want those pages to overwrite each other when copying forward.

Hello @am-bristol11,
I heard back from support regarding my experience. I learned that my pages were not saving as locked because I had not gone to Settings and enabled the locking of content. To me, this seems like a flawed design (allowing folks to interact with the locking mechanism on a page and even having it change to Locked when it will not retain that status once the page is refreshed or navigated away from).
Hopefully this resolves the issue you are seeing. If not, please let me know and I can investigate further.
Regards,
James
Hello @am-bristol11,
Do you know if your pages are staying locked? When I just tested this in our instance, I found that the pages I locked were not locked when I refreshed the page. I will be putting in a ticket with Canvas support and will let you know when I learn anything.
Best,
James

Thanks for looking into this!! I was able to get some answers through the implementation specialist we have. My main concern was seeing if BluePrints were compatible with course copying and it sadly is not. For our institution it really makes the BluePrint unusable since the majority of our faculty will use the course copy option on the homepage of a course and create enormousness amounts of duplicate pages.
Let's say you use the same BluePrint for Summer and Fall semesters and someone copies their Summer course to their Fall Course to update it and use it. They will end up with unlocked copies of the blueprint pages from the Summer course and locked copies of the blueprint pages from the Fall course. Whenever you course copy it breaks the syncing with the Blueprint and the pages do not overwrite each other despite being the same content.
There is no way to we can regulate these extra copies or prevent faculty from bringing them over when they course copy.
Really disappointed in this. We were hoping to provide resources for students in all the courses in a way that didn't require faculty management. We are migrating from Blackboard and outdated resources was a big concern.
Oh well I guess.
