Bypassing Module requirement option

I was approached by our leadership to brainstorm some ideas on how to bypass our current Module Requirements (we require every student to “score at least” 80 or above on an assignment before moving forward) I am attaching an example under one of the Module Settings for reference.

The issue is that leadership wants to serve another alternative program where students will transfer with grades below 80.  They want to meet them where they are and enter the grades they had so they can continue under our courses.

I do not see any mechanism in Canvas that the Teacher or Admin can “override” the requirement we have in place. There is an "excuse" but that will move the student forward without calculating any grades.  For example: I would like to enter 75 and have a checkbox or something to bypass the Module requirement for that student.

Do you know of any creative solutions to accomplish the bypass of requirements without changing the entire design of the courses we already have in place?

We currently have multiple attempts set up on all quizzes, with training for Teachers to remediate between each attempt.  The issue we are facing is a group of students who are transferring from another school that scored less than 80%, not to make them take over the course from the start.  Canvas just does not have this "bypass" feature after talking to engineers.  We decided to set basic parameter rules based on suggestions from our Curriculum team.  This is our solution for now:

  • We would share modules for courses with another school sending a student
  • Other school teacher reviews modules and indicate a score for each module
  • Other school teacher module scores above 80 will be entered as the quiz grade for that module.
  • Other school teacher module scores between 60-79 will provide the opportunity for the student to take the posttest as the pretest
    • One attempt
    • If the pretest/posttest score is 80 or higher, that score is recorded and all the module lessons/quizzes are exempted
    • If the pretest/posttest score is 79 or lower, the student must complete the module including all lessons and quizzes.
  • Other school teacher scores 59 and lower will require the student to complete the entire module.
